1. You May Have A Nonlinear Thought Process

When you’re clever and imaginative, your thoughts don’t always follow the clear and standard structure. You may not get from point A to point B, rather see a whole bunch of different ways through all possibilities in a given scenario. Having a unique thought process is what makes a creative mind so valuable. You’ll see different opportunities, and find new ideas and creative ways to consider an approach. The societal norms of a thought process can hurt the creative person’s confidence as one can think something is wrong with them or feel judged or misunderstood. But what is difficult can also be your superpower. If you lean into this aspect of yourself and have self-awareness about how it can be challenging for those around you, a nonlinear thought process can lead to dynamic innovation.

2. You Can Often Be Misunderstood

Societal norms dictate what is expected of us, and for highly creative people, we tend to go against the grain. From the way we dress to the way we think and communicate it can be easy to be misunderstood by the public. When we’re misunderstood we can feel isolated and alone, and this leads many creative people to retreat from society. It can also make us feel like we are different from everyone else and therefore are undeserving of acceptance. The good news is that so many people feel this way, for a whole plethora of reasons. When we learn to communicate and explain our processes, no matter how strange we may think they seem, we give people the chance to get to know us on a deeper level and bonds can be formed.

3. You Are Overly Self Critical

Everyone struggles with that little voice inside our heads that says “you’re not good enough” or “you’ve done something wrong”, but when you’re a highly creative person these voices are louder and can be debilitating if you don’t have the skills to address them. Creative people tend to be more focused on themselves, not in a selfish way but rather in a way that tends to overthink social and workplace situations. Growth comes from knowing that your feelings are not only normal but shared with nearly every human on the planet. This allows you to relax, be more present, and stop not holding back your ideas in the workplace, which is great because creative people have some of the best ideas of anyone.
